Most pre-packaged food products in the United States contain a “Nutrition Facts” label that describes the food’s nutrients as a percentage of the “Daily Values” recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In order to make the most out of this information and maximize its health benefits, it’s important to take the time to be sure you’re reading the label properly. Be sure to take reading glasses with you to the grocery store! Below is a sample nutrition label for macaroni and cheese. Check out the balloons to the left and right to see if you’re reading the label properly.
