About Meals on Wheels

About the Central Indiana MOW Alliance

In the summer of 2005, Meals on Wheels, Inc. met with the executive directors of a handful of Central Indiana Meals on Wheels to discuss forming an alliance that would produce certain benefits for the area's volunteer meal delivery organizations and their respective clientele, including the ability to:

  • Formalize meaningful relationships among the groups
  • Establish industry standards of operation
  • Identify and communicate best practices
  • Leverage "economies of scale" for distribution of information and acquisition of goods and services
By bringing these organizations of similar philosophy together, MOW hopes increase public awareness of the unique opportunities and challenges faced by nonprofit meal delivery groups and thereby improve the overall client experience.
