MISSION STATEMENT

Meals on Wheels is the leading privately funded organization promoting dignity and independent living for the homebound, through volunteer delivery of nutritious meals in the greater Indianapolis area.

FUNDING: Private, no government assistance. United Way Allocation for 2007 - 5% of operating budget.

CLIENTS SERVED: 400 DAILY, Monday through Friday.

CHARGES FOR DAILY MEALS (1 HOT & 1 COLD): $5.00 PER DAY
Financial assistance is available.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CLIENTS PER ROUTE: 12 – 14

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS: Approximately 1500, including 700 from the corporate community.

FOOD SUPPLIERS: 8 hospitals and 5 healthcare centers

FIRST DELIVERY: March 4, 1971

MEALS DELIVERED TO DATE: 5,746,005

CLIENTS REQUIRING SPECIAL DIETS: 70%
