About Meals on Wheels

About Our Name: The Meals on Wheels Brand

In Indianapolis, there are two types of meal delivery services for the elderly and homebound. One type is funded through federal and state appropriations. The other, which describes Meals on Wheels, Inc., is powered by volunteers and donations.

Just as other pioneering brands - Kleenex®, Xerox®, Coke® - have become household words referring to like products, the name "Meals on Wheels" has come to be associated with similar organizations under the broad umbrella of meal delivery services.

In fact, Meals on Wheels has some very special characteristics that set it apart from government programs:

No waiting list for services
Clients begin receiving meals within one week of signing up.

Not one, but two meals each day
Our volunteers deliver a hot tray and deli sack to every client, every day.

Meal preparation supervised by registered dieticians
We don't take chances that our meals will meet daily recommended requirements for nutrition. That's why every meal is prepared at a hospital or health-care facility under the supervision of registered dieticians.

Special diets accommodated
We're the only organization in town providing meals tailored to special diets, including diabetic and low-sodium meals.

A personal touch
From the "real" person answering our phones to our volunteers providing a friendly daily visit to the homes of clients, our core value is a personal touch that says "we deliver smiles."

Just as there are different types of tissues, copy machines and soda pops, there are different types of home meal delivery services. Be sure you get the Meals on Wheels brand.
