About donating
People who take the time and energy to contribute their hard-earned money to a charitable cause want to know it is being used in ways that provide the greatest assistance to the program's beneficiaries. Contributors to Meals on Wheels can take comfort and pride in the fact that 86 percent of the private donations we receive directly benefit our clients because they support program services. The remaining 14 percent fund administrative and fundraising costs necessary to the viability of the organization.
Contributions from individuals and grants from a variety of charitable groups and the business community are responsible for funding the vast majority of the Meals on Wheels operating budget. We are a nonprofit organization that receives no direct federal, state or local government funding. Meals on Wheels, Inc. is an agency of the United Way of Central Indiana.
